ARTISTIC DIRECTOR/INSTRUCTOR

From Elma New York, Shelly began her dance training at the young age of 3.  With over 30 years of dance training, Shelly has studied with numerous dance educators in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Acro, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Modern. Her love for dance began at Dance Spectrum in Depew, NY under the direction of Patty Neal.  Shelly continued her dance education at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) receiving a BFA Degree in Dance. While at UB she performed with the Zodiaque Dance Company.  After graduating college, Shelly began dancing professionally with Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. Some of her Choreography/Directing credits with Busch Gardens Williamsburg Include; This is Oktoberfest,  Miracles (2009-2013) and Deck the Halls (2009-2013).   Directors and Choreographers Shelly has collaborated with include; Bob Penola, Minnie Madden and Phil Raybourn.  Shelly is very passionate about dance and proper dance education. She  is excited to be passing on her knowledge of and love for dance to others. 

     
  Noelle Schatzel

INSTRUCTOR

Ms. Noelle began her dance training at the Chamber Ballet, under the instruction of Heidi Robitshek. During this time, she participated in cultural exchange programs to Germany with the Robitshek Dance Ensemble. She spent multiple summers training with Richmond Ballet’s summer program under full scholarship. Noelle was also awarded a dance scholarship to Butler University to purse a BFA in Dance Performance. While at Butler, Noelle was invited to join Richmond Ballet as a trainee for their 2006-2007 season and perform in the corps de ballet. Noelle had the opportunity to perform in Don Quixote, Who Cares?, Who’s it all for anyways?, Paquita in Paquita, and multiple original faculty pieces. Noelle finished her BA in Dance at Old Dominion University in 2009. In 2009, Noelle began teaching for Newport News Public Schools as a dance teacher for physical education courses, as well as helping coordinate the dance program for NNPS Summer Institute for the Arts, where she taught for three years. Noelle has been teaching dance in the private sector locally since 2009, and looks forward to bringing her love of ballet to SI Dance.

INSTRUCTOR/PHOTOGRAPHER

Heather started her dance training in the suburbs of Chicago where she trained with Julie Cartier, Pam Johnson-Tannis, Arian Dolan, and Sandra Scaletta. During high school, she continued her training at Gus Giordano’s with John Leher. In 2004, she graduated from The State University of New York at Buffalo with her BFA in Dance. There she trained under the direction of Tom Ralabate, William Thomas, Tressa Crehan, Jeanne Fornarolla, as well as numerous artists in residency. She was a member of Zodiaque Studio Dance Ensemble for three years, as well as performed and choreographed in Dancer’s Workshop and Young Choreographers, as well as additional special programs. After college, Heather performed for three years as a Production Dance for Carnival Cruise Lines. She then spent two years as a member of The Cartier Collective and teaching in at various Chicago dance studios before moving to Virginia. Heather started teaching at the age of 16, and has since worked with students from 2 years old through adults.  She spent the last six years teaching in Williamsburg, VA and working with the dancers of SI Dance as a substitute and photographer.  She is excited to join the SI Dance family this year.

OFFICE ADMINISTRATION

Cecilia has held a variety of administrative, production and back-stage jobs in the performing art world.  She is the go-to person for Shelly, Christie and the students.  She ensures that class schedules, billings and the web-site are up-to-date and help keeps parents involved in everything that SI DANCE is doing.
